Retake — definition
A retake is when the defending team moves back onto a bomb site after the bomb has been planted, trying to clear the attackers and defuse before it detonates. It is the opposite of holding a site: instead of defending from the start, the team has lost initial control and must win it back under a ticking clock.
Retakes demand coordination — using utility to clear angles and trading kills efficiently — and often come down to a clutch. The concept applies in Counter-Strike 2 and, identically, in VALORANT after a Spike plant.
