Battle Royale
Battle royale (BR) is a competitive game mode where many players or squads fight on a shrinking map until only one is left standing — the format behind Free Fire and PUBG Mobile.
Battle Royale — definition
A battle royale (BR) is a game mode in which a large number of players — solo or in squads — are dropped onto a map with minimal gear and fight to be the last one standing. A safe zone steadily shrinks over the match, forcing players closer together until a winner emerges.
In Garena Free Fire, a BR match drops up to 50 players; squads of up to four scavenge weapons, rotate ahead of the zone, and try to survive the final circles. It is also the mode behind PUBG Mobile — which fields up to 100 players per match — and similar mobile titles.
What defines a battle royale
- Many players, one winner — last player or squad standing wins.
- Shrinking play area — a closing safe zone forces engagements.
- Scavenge-and-survive — players start with nothing and loot the map.
