Balance of Performance — definition

Balance of Performance (BoP) is the set of regulated adjustments used to equalise different cars so a varied field can race competitively. Organisers tweak parameters like weight (ballast), power, and aerodynamics to bring fast and slow models closer together.

BoP is central to GT3 and GT4 racing — and therefore to GT-focused sims like Assetto Corsa Competizione and Gran Turismo — where dozens of real manufacturers' cars need to be competitive against each other. Without BoP, one dominant model would win everything.
