Gran Turismo World Series
The Gran Turismo World Series (GTWS) is Gran Turismo's official esport, with a Nations Cup and a Manufacturers Cup. Malaysia competes in the Asia region; the 2025 Nations Cup went to José Serrano.
What is the Gran Turismo World Series?
The Gran Turismo World Series (GTWS) is the official esport of Gran Turismo, run by Polyphony Digital and Sony. It began as the FIA-Certified Gran Turismo Championships in 2018 — the first FIA-sanctioned digital motorsport — before the FIA branding was dropped from 2022.
It runs two formats: the Nations Cup, where drivers race for their country, and the Manufacturers Cup, where they race for a car brand, culminating in an annual World Finals.
2025 World Finals
At the 2025 World Finals in Fukuoka, Japan, José Serrano (Spain) won the Nations Cup, and Porsche took the Manufacturers Cup — the first non-Japanese manufacturer to win in the series' recent history.
Where Malaysia fits
Malaysia competes through the Asia region and is eligible for the Nations Cup; Sony runs a Malaysia-specific GTWS competition each season. (No Malaysian has been verified as reaching a GTWS World Finals to date.)
